The British Wildlife Photography Awards are back after a two-year hiatus, and have released these images to encourage people to enter.

Ben Hall snapped this pair of great crested grebe performing a courtship display at dawn, backlit and surrounded by mist, in Cheshire.

Luke Wilkinson photographed this cute fox cub. He said: 'After coming out to play with its siblings, this cub seemed rather transfixed by this nearby fly buzzing around.'

William Jones-Warner captured this photograph of a majestic stag in London's Richmond park. He said: 'Britain has some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, all you need do is get up and watch the sunrise and you will be forever rewarded.'

George Stoyle took this extraordinary image of a giant jellyfish off the Scottish coast. He said: 'I was swimming back to the boat when I came face-to-face with the largest jellyfish I've ever encountered. As I approached cautiously, I noticed that a number of juvenile fish had taken refuge inside the stinging tentacles.'

This cheeky otter popped up just at the right moment for Andrew Parkinson to snap this lovely image. He said: 'Otters are fantastically charismatic creatures, difficult to predict and sometimes incredibly difficult to find. It was the line of bubbles that gave this one away so that when he appeared in the seaweed I was already waiting.'
