Which Countries Get Most Paid Vacation Days

Resume.io analyzed the laws on statutory paid leave and paid public holidays in every country around the world to reveal the minimum amount of vacation days employees are entitled to (at least on paper).

Whether it’s a day off in lieu of a national holiday, a religious festival, or simply a mandated minimum for paid vacation days, there are different rules in each country that set the base threshold of paid time off for workers. And, perhaps remarkably, Iran is the country with the most: 53 days.

This is followed by the tiny European state of San Marino (with a population of just 33,500) that enjoys 46 days of annual paid leave. Rounding off the top 10 are Yemen (45), Andorra, the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, and Bahrain are all on 44, Togo (43), Niger (43), Madagascar (43), Monaco and Russia at 42.

You're no doubt wondering who has the least amount of paid days off each year. Well, if it wasn't for Micronesia (9), it would be the USA at 10. This compares to China at 16 and Canada at 14. Meanwhile, England has 28, yet Scotland has 38.

If you want to check out what all other countries offer, the map below lays it all out for you.
