Dracula Land is a €1 billion ($1.2 billion) entertainment project that is billed as the first of its kind, and scheduled to open in 2027.

With its medieval castles and deep-rooted folklore, Romania is the obvious location for a Dracula-themed park. It also entirely appropriate as Irish writer Bram Stoker's classic 1897 novel was largely set in Transylvania, a historic region in central Romania, famous for stunning Carpathian mountain landscapes, medieval towns and well-preserved castles - including Bran Castle, linked to the Dracula myth.

However, for sensible commercial reasons, Dracula Land will actually be located just outside the city of Bucharest. The 200 acre theme park will feature six lands inspired by the original vampire story, plus over 40 attractions, and state-of-the-art technology. When it opens, visitors will enter the park through the Moonlit District, a vibrant main street with ornate architecture inspired by historic Bucharest, and key attractions include the Transylvanian Railway, the Family Kingdom (home to “supernatural beings” from cultures around the world), before stepping into what will surely be the main draw for fans of Gothic horror: a dramatic recreation of Transylvania and the iconic Dracula Castle.

Two additional themed lands bring the luxury park together: a werewolf-filled take on New Orleans, and foggy Victorian streets inspired by Gothic London.

The vampire-themed park forms part of a major development featuring three Dracula-themed hotels, offering around 1,200 rooms. The development will also include an aqua park and thermal spa, a racing track and motor park, a luxury shopping outlet, and a 22,500-seat arena suitable for concerts, festivals and events.

Intriguingly, Dracula Land is also being built in the digital world, with its own metaverse, a “digital twin” that lets millions of users explore, play, and interact with the park wherever in the world they may be.

Disney's 7th Theme Park: The House of Mouse has announced plans to open its first theme park in the Middle East. Disney already has six theme parks spanning North America, Europe and Asia. Their next resort will be in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Abu Dhabi's Yas Island. Disney said the UAE was located within a four-hour flight of one-third of the world's population, making it a "significant gateway for tourism".
