Enormous Smartphone Screen For Better Sharing

Every now and then a bit of tech comes along that has all the hallmarks of a 'must have' item - especially if it comes without cables, apps or the need for Wi-Fi - and is reasonably priced.

Described as a "phone-first portable wireless display," this new 15.6-inch screen aims to take the effort - and the need for a shared network - out of mirroring technology. If you don't know what that means, don't panic, and read on. Especially as this bit of tech will work with almost any phone and doesn't require apps or any extra installments and setup. So, super-simple. It's called Takolink.
As most of our digital lives are stored in our phones, we all know that there are many occasions when the small screen is disappointingly small for practical use. Think of scenarios like following a recipe when cooking, reading websites (OGN, we hope) or in social or work settings where you might want to see photos, YouTube videos, social media, or even when ordering food together. In all those scenarios, bigger screens would definitely be better.

While it's not a touchscreen, reports New Atlas, Takolink has clear buttons, doesn't need configuring and will work with all iOS devices from iPhone 4 and up, and nearly all Android models running 10 or later.
At its simplest, the engineers behind the device say, Takolink is a standalone monitor that mirrors a phone display with a single tap, allowing content to magically appear almost immediately. As for the display, a motion sensor will automatically rotate what's on the screen from portrait to landscape, mimicking the behaviour of your smartphone. The device, remarkably, also works independently of network coverage.
OK, if you've got this far, you probably want one if the price is right. How does $265 sound? Shippable anywhere in the world. OGN doesn't make any money if you want to buy one. We just love great gadgets like the Takolink.
