Ford Creates an Electric Sauna Van

Ford one-ups the camper van trend with a sauna you can take anywhere.

This Ford E-Transit is a one-off built by Ford Pro's Special Vehicle Team to solve a very specific problem. Billed as a tool for people who "seek to maximize the revitalizing benefits of both hot and cold water," the "E-Sauna" is a one-off designed to be driven to and from "wild swimming" sites where explorers might want to warm back up after jumping into the cold abyss.
Inside, the van is outfitted with wood paneling and insulation designed to replicate the feel of a free-standing sauna - you know, the type that is not built into an EV commercial van. Even the exterior of the van attempts to create wood panelling.

Since the E-Transit comes with the same Power Pro Onboard system seen on both internal combustion and electrified F-150s, the sauna runs off the same power supply as the electric van itself. That means a theoretical E-Sauna owner could charge the van overnight, bring it to their favorite coastline for a dip in the ocean, simmer in the sauna for a few hours, and drive home without ever having to worry about anything but the van's primary state of charge.
Unfortunately, there's no accommodation built into the van. It really is just a mobile sauna.
It may seem like an overbuilt solution to a very specific problem (or a very specific non-problem), but hey, it gets a job done. That is the point of commercial vehicles, after all. If a van can be a home base for mobile pet grooming, detailing, or pest control, why not a mobile hot room full of wood panels?
