Tuesday's tasty smorgasbord of uplifting news nuggets.

The Sky's The Limit
The world’s highest outdoor infinity pool is, of course, in Dubai (where else?) – but why stop at a swim. Set atop Address Beach Resort, 77 floors and 1,017ft (310m) up, this rooftop pool also hosts floating yoga and Pilates classes. Participants balance on paddle boards in the water and try not to wobble as they wonder at views stretching from Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest observation wheel, to the sail-shaped landmark Burj Al Arab hotel and beyond. Dubai continues to claim its place amongst the weirdest cities in the world.

New Bee Species in UK
A new bee species is setting up home in southern England, drawn from the orchards of Europe by warmer springs and earlier flower blooms. The European orchard bee, Osmia cornuta, can usually be found busily pollinating cherry and apple trees in countries such as Belgium and the Netherlands, but more and more are making the once-too-chilly UK their home, with experts saying they expect the population to keep growing. On the continent, colonies are encouraged to live in cherry and apple orchards since they are said to be better pollinators than honeybees. It is about the size of a honeybee, but more brightly coloured. Solitary and brightly coloured, the bee lays eggs inside holes in wood or masonry and then seals up the cavity.

Mars' Polygon Pattern
Mars is home to a lot of odd-shaped rocks that can look pretty random. Patterns, however, can catch scientists’ eyes. That’s the case with a section of polygon-patterned rocks spotted by NASA’s Curiosity rover. The geometric cracks are a bit of a mystery, but the rover is looking into it. Current-day Mars comes across as an unpleasant place to live. It can reach painfully frigid temperatures and the surface is dry. That wasn’t always the case. Mars was once a more watery place. The planet’s history of water may play into the polygons. “While the origin of these shapes isn’t clear, they're another clue into how and when Mars lost its water,” the Curiosity team said.

LA Olympics
One of Los Angeles’ historic and most storied sports venues and one of the city’s newest will share the Olympics ceremony stage in 2028. Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood will host the Opening and Closing Ceremony for the 2028 Olympics. The Opening Ceremony on 14 July will be shared by both the Coliseum and SoFi Stadium. The Closing Ceremony is set for 30 July at the LA Memorial Coliseum, which will become the first venue in history to host events for three Olympics. LA Memorial Coliseum previously provided the stage for Olympics events in 1932 and 1984.

Where To?
Eager teens reaching driving age in the next few years may be able to take their inaugural spin in a car... in the sky. The world’s first mass-produced flying automobile prototype made its public debut on 8 May. The AirCar is the result of Slovakian Stefan Klein's 20 year endeavour “converting his flying car dream into reality” and it already holds a Certificate of Airworthiness, having successfully completed over 170 flight hours and more than 500 takeoffs and landings. It’s capable of automatic transformation from car to aircraft in under two minutes, enabling the operator to simply drive to an airport and then take off.

Life Changing Tip
What started as a typical Sunday shift for one West Virginia waitress turned into a moment she’ll never forget, thanks to the unexpected kindness of two customers. Manhattan Deming, serving at DaVinci’s in Williamstown, was going about her day when a couple she was serving began asking her about her life. Their conversation quickly turned heartfelt as she talked about her goals, and wanting to train to be a nurse. When the couple departed, they left a $2,000 tip. “It gives me a whole new perspective,” said Deming. “They’ve really inspired me... to begin achieving my goals and bettering my daughter and my life.” For Deming, the $2,000 tip is more than just money - it’s a reminder that good things come to those who wait. “To the couple that came in here and blessed me like that, I hope that your life is filled with nothing but happiness and good things,” she said.
"What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead." Nelson Mandela
On This Day
