I am a big fan of artwork, and designing great visuals is an art. Not very long ago, in 2019, if you had to create an image, you’d need to hire a graphic designer. They will take their time to design the image from scratch. There will be back-and-forth communication during the editing process until you have a satisfactory visual. Doesn’t that sound like a tedious task just to create a visual for your blog post or ad? Well, it sure does sound like a hassle to me, but there is a good replacement for that. The replacement: AI image generators.
And there are a lot of them being released every week. So, let me talk about them. Having said that, you might still need to hire a graphics designer if you don’t want to convey a low-effort messaging to your users because these AI-generated results still need some refinements, and only a professional graphics designer knows that. What you can do is create an image from these AI image generators for the sake of inspiration and provide your graphics designer with that. This is exactly what I do.
But which AI image generator do I use? There is a bunch of them, and every single one of them has a different result. To make the choice simple for you, let me share my experience with each new AI image generator with you.
What is The Best AI Image Generator?
If I had to choose only one AI image generator, which one would it be? For me, it’s Stable Diffusion. It offers everything you need in an image generator - from understanding
complicated prompts to generating photorealistic results, it does everything and that too, (almost) perfectly. So, that’s the best in my opinion. Now, let me walk you through some of the best parts about Stable Diffusion and DALL-E 3, which is a great option too.
Stable Diffusion: I have been using the tool since it came out in August 2022. I have been trying to find a replacement for Stable Diffusion, but I have failed. This is the best one for me for a few key reasons. The first reason is its ability to understand complicated prompts. Why does it matter? Here is the thing with all of these AI tools: the more comprehensive your prompt is, the better the output is going to be.
When I tried giving prompts to other image generators, they all struggled with hallucination. The result wasn’t what I expected. On the flip side, Stable Diffusion does not hallucinate very often, and it can understand comprehensive prompts rather easily. That’s not it. Stable Diffusion is an open-source software, which, in simple words, means that you can use it on your own system. You can make the tweaks in its source code to make it even better. On top of that, the results come out pretty quickly, provided you have a stable internet connection from reliable internet providers in the US. This fast speed of getting results comes in pretty handy when you have to refine the results by giving further prompts to the generators.
Now is the time of the big question: how can you use it? You can either install on your system for in-house processing or use the assistant, which lets you give prompts to generate the results. However, you need to pay a monthly fee if you want to use the full set of features of Stable Diffusion. Check its websites for an accurate pricing of the plan.
DALL-E 3: The second-best AI image generator on my list is DALL-E 3. It is created by the makers of the renowned chatbot, ChatGPT. I mean, OpenAI. If not the best, it is a better AI image generator among many others. Why do I like it? Let me explain that. DALL-E 3 is super versatile. It can create vector-based images as well as photorealistic images. For people working on diversified projects, this image generator can come in handy.
On top of that, its ability to understand complicated prompts is insane. It was obvious because it was coming from the makers of ChatGPT, which is the best when understanding the prompts and the context behind them. So, it’s good. However, it is not all good as some things bother me. The first is that its photorealistic images look fake right off the bat. They don’t look realistic, and they feel like they are created by an AI-powered bot (which they actually are). Adding fuel to the fire is its $20 a month subscription, which is the most expensive of them all.
Other quirks are easy to ignore because they are pretty common across the industry as of now. All in all, it still does a fine job when you need versatility in creating images. Let me conclude this article by suggesting a free option that also comes in my best category - Leonardo AI. As of now, it is free to use, and you can try it to create your images.
