The toys fear they're getting replaced by (shock horror) a kid's tablet.

In a new teaser for Toy Story 5, Buzz, Woody and the rest of the gang face what may be their ultimate enemy in the war for a child's play time: electronics. With INXS's Never Tear Us Apart moodily playing in the background, we see the delivery of a parcel to Bonnie Anderson, Andy's younger sister, who inherited his toys back in Toy Story 3.
Our heroes including Rex, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head, Woody, Buzz and Jessie, look on in horror as she opens the package to reveal a frog-themed tablet named Lilypad. "Let's Play!" it proposes. Bonnie seems ready to do so, and possibly forget about her other pals in short order. "Is the age of toys over?" the tagline asks.
As everyone knows, tablets have long succeeded classic toys, but it's still a fun plot idea and likely very relatable to parents who've grown up with these films. The sequel brings back the franchise's regular cast including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack, while welcoming newcomer Greta Lee as Lilypad's voice. It's set to hit theaters on 19 June 2026.
The Toy Story franchise has grossed over $3.3 billion worldwide, with Toy Story 4 earning the highest amount at over $1.07 billion worldwide, followed by Toy Story 3 with over $1.06 billion. The first two films earned over $373 million and $497 million globally, respectively. So, it's hardly surprising that Pixar has been hard at work to create Toy Story 5 to, hopefully, cash in on another box office success.
Here's the teaser trailer...
