The Elio water bottle can hold 25.4 fl oz (about 750 ml) when expanded, and compress down to the size of a hockey puck for easy packing or carrying on the go.

Its clever design features a silicone-coated aluminum frame shell that surrounds a platinum silicone body like a web. This allows the bottle to be twisted and compressed into a disc that's just a bit larger than the cap. The 360-degree twisting mechanism is said to be engineered to withstand thousands of twists without the bottle losing shape.

Better yet, there's no plastic in Elio's bottle - it's all food grade silicone, which can go in the dishwasher, and is fully recyclable, reports NewAtlas. And while it isn't insulated, the bottle is claimed to keep drinks cold for up to 6 hours.

Lumio, the brand that makes it, also guarantees the bottle is leak-proof, so you should be able to drop it into any bag without worry. In fact, it's small enough to fit into a shirt pocket.

At US$60 a pop, it's not exactly cheap. But you can nab it for a rather more reasonable $48 while its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is on - and choose from a range of colours. Orders are scheduled to start shipping worldwide in January 2026 as the company has already exceeded its crowdfunding target. So, if you want one, it should be a fairly safe bet. But bear in mind that all crowdfunding campaigns carry an element of risk.
