'Shaguar' E-Type from 'Austin Powers' Heading to Auction

Groovy, baby.

Mike Myers' 1967 E-Type 'Shaguar'

For five years in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the over-the-top James Bond satire and vehicle for Mike Myers to talk to himself was one of the biggest hits in comedy - and anyone under the age of 25 will have no idea how ubiquitous this movie's quotes were in its heyday.

And, like the James Bond franchise it spoofs, that legacy happens to include a British sports car - and enthusiasts will be delighted to learn that that very car will be going under the hammer early next year.

Yes, the 'Shaguar', as the titular character referred to his Union Jack-liveried roadster, can soon be yours. Authentication letters confirm it as the only Jaguar E-Type used in the production of all three Austin Powers movies.

The car has been held in a private collection, only now surfacing on the open market for some lucky Mike Myers enthusiast.

The car stands out for its eye-catching livery and the fact that it is a real 1967 E-Type in excellent condition. Not only is the car not a replica for filming, it was given an overhaul by Jaguar Land Rover in the mid-2000s, further bolstering its provenance.

If this legendary movie-motor tickles your fancy, you'll have to wait until the car hits the auction block at a Mecum event in mid-January 2025. The auction house doesn't estimate a sale price, but the car will no doubt cost more than the average E-Type convertible.

Mecum has produced a little promo video to whet your appetite...
