For Earl Guynes, a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro was more than just a car - it was a symbol of his youth and dreams.

However, at 22, with two little ones at home, Earl made the decision to sell his beloved Camaro to provide for his family, trading horsepower for diaper money. Over the years, his son Jared, would often hear his father reminisce about the car. “It was blue with white stripes down across the hood and down the back, two doors of course. ’67 were the ones with a wing window on the side,” he told NBC 5.

Jared came to understand that his dad’s story was more than just a nostalgic tale - it was the truth. After a great business year in 2021, Jared embarked on a journey to find the very car his dad had sold decades earlier. After a year-long nationwide search, he located a matching 1967 Camaro just 70 miles away. However, the car needed extensive restoration.

For two years, Jared poured his heart into rebuilding the car in secret. Finally, on Earl’s 65th birthday, Jared orchestrated an unforgettable reveal with the help of a magician.

When the restored Camaro rolled into view, Earl was overcome with emotion. "I wanted my dad to know how much I love him, how much he means to me, and how incredible he was as a father," Jared shared. "And the greatest way to do that was to bring back the Camaro. It was always the Camaro."
