This Nike ad took 4000 hours of sports footage to make. The result is stunning.
Nike’s new commercial, “You Can’t Stop Us,” draws on the sense of community from being socially isolated during a global pandemic. While the Tokyo Olympics had been delayed till 2021, it tells a powerful story about how sports will live on, no matter the circumstances, no matter the form they take. The ad captures the optimism of sports and the fact that there’s always a new season and you can start from scratch with hopes of winning.
What’s utterly remarkable about the commercial, however, is the editing. With precise split screen matching images and action it which demonstrates that all athletes, and by extension we all of us, are linked together, somehow.
