Impossible Burgers

If you’re intrigued by plant-based alternatives to meat but have been hesitant because of their expensive price tag, we’ve got good news for you.

We've all been told that eating less meat is not just good for ourselves but good for the planet too. Becoming a vegetarian is, for many, a jump too far. But what if you could eat something that tasted as delicious as meat that wasn't meat?

Impossible Foods promises just that, and has announced a cut to the price of its plant-based burgers by 20 percent at US grocery stores (if you're in the UK, see below). The plant-based protein maker is ramping up production with the goal to eventually undercut traditional ground beef prices, reports Reuters.

The innovative company is a leader in the alternative meat sector, seeking realistic meat substitutes that taste and feel like the real deal without the hefty environmental and animal welfare impacts of traditional meat.

Creating convincing fake meat is no easy task, so initially, these options would cost you just as much, if not more, than a regular hamburger. However, with the ever-increasing demand for plant-based foods, the company has been able to drop down their prices and make the product accessible for a wider range of consumers. It plans to keep dropping prices.

The price change means that an Impossible Burger is now down to $5.49 in US stores. The company plans to introduce similar price cuts across stores in Canada, Singapore, and Hong Kong in the near future.
