Jaguar's Radical Type 01 All-Electric Grand Tourer
The Jaguar name was born in 1935, and now it is betting the company on this polarising new beast.

The new Type 01 was unveiled in NYC this week. Gone were the Barbie pink and electric blue colour schemes that accompanied the prototype reveal in Paris at the start of 2025. Remember the furore? In New York, the production model revealed that the new Type 01 was a more sober 'visionary silver'. It is the first production car since the brand’s reinvention, and the most powerful, most aerodynamic, and most technologically advanced car Jaguar has ever built. The four-door grand tourer makes more than 1,000 hp from three motors, two at the rear and one up front, enabling the vehicle to sprint from zero to 60 mph in a claimed 3.1 seconds. And can keep going for up to 400 miles.
As you can see, the new Jag has long, low proportions; unique in its segment. The platform it is built on gives the car near perfect 50/50 weight distribution and the stiffest structure of any Jaguar ever.

Rawdon Glover, Jaguar’s managing director, says “Great design should have the confidence to polarize" and is confident that the Type 01 will prove popular at $130,000 a pop. Indeed, he says that more than 50,000 people have registered interest and a whopping 78 percent of them are new to Jaguar. Essentially, the company is ditching its existing customer base and hoping to lure a new audience. That's undoubtedly brave.
The only question is whether enough buyers like it, and Jaguar has been explicit about betting the company on it. “This was the biggest moment since the Jaguar name was born in 1935,” the automaker said at the NYC unveiling. “Jaguar is back.” First deliveries of the Type 01 are expected in the second half of 2027, with orders opening early in the year.
