Today's tasty bite-sized chunks of good news to perk up the day.
Adele's Extra Dates
Good news for Adele fans as she announces that she’s extending her Las Vegas residency with 34 more dates between June and November and also plans to release a concert film. Saturday night’s show was the last performance in the British singer’s original “Weekends With Adele” series that covered 34 dates since last November on the Las Vegas Strip. Adele’s shows will resume at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on June 16 and run through Nov. 4. Time to book a trip?
Leukemia Cure?
An experimental pill called revumenib has shown promise in curing terminal leukemia patients who were not responding to treatment in a long-awaited clinical trial in the United States. The drug works by inhibiting a specific protein called menin, which is involved in the machinery that gets hijacked by leukemia cells and causes normal blood cells to turn into cancerous ones, reports EuroNews. The US Food and Drug Administration has granted revumenib "breakthrough therapy designation" to fast-track its development and regulatory review based on the promising results of the trial.
Octogenarians
Four of five octogenarians who entered the USA Track & Field 100 Mile Road Championships in Nevada in early March successfully finished, including 80-year-old David Blaylock of Draper, Utah, who won the 80-to-84 age group in 29 hours 49 minutes and 29 seconds. All five men spoke highly of each other. Most of them train by themselves, so seeing other men in their 80s race made them feel less alone. “I love these guys,” Blaylock said. “They’re tough old men, and we’ve all got problems, but we just keep coming back.”
Cosmetic Testing
What difference a decade makes. In 2013 the EU and Israel became the world’s first markets to ban cosmetic animal testing. Today, 43 nations have sales bans or restrictions, says the Humane Society. The tireless work of activists has also turned the retail tide, with big beauty brands like Avon, L’Oréal and Johnson & Johnson banning the practice.

Domestic Animals
People who mistreat domestic animals in Spain will face much tougher penalties following new legislation that has increased potential jail time from 18 months to three years, says Euro News. The law requires compulsory training for dog owners and aligns with the country’s shift in 2020 to recognise animals as "living beings endowed with sensitivity" rather than simply "things."
Egyptian Tiles
An Egyptian startup is tackling ocean pollution by turning plastic bags into outdoor paving tiles that are tougher than cement. To date, the company has recycled five million bags and hopes to increase that number tenfold by 2025, reports Reuters. It’s good news for the Mediterranean Sea, which suffers from 74,000 tonnes of waste every year from Egypt alone.
