Today's tasty selection of bite-sized chunks of positive news.

The Big Reveal
Tomorrow's a big day for space fans as NASA will be giving the public a look at the asteroid sample brought back to Earth by its OSIRIS-REx. A livestream of the reveal is set for 11 am ET. The capsule containing rocks and dust taken from the surface of the near-Earth asteroid Bennu touched down in the Utah desert last month, and scientists have since been at work making their initial analyses. Asteroid Bennu is estimated to be over 4.5 billion years old, meaning its materials could hold clues into the formation of the solar system and how the building blocks of life made it to Earth. And, to scientists’ delight, the mission managed to capture more material than anyone expected.
New World Record
Kenyan long-distance runner Kelvin Kiptum set a new, formally recognized marathon world record on Sunday, finishing the Chicago Marathon in just over two hours. His 2:00:35 mark eclipses former record-holder Eliud Kipchoge's time of 2:01:09 (set last year in Berlin) and makes Kiptum the first athlete to finish under two hours and one minute in a record-eligible competition.
Covid/Flu Combo Jab
Sure, parts of the world are understandably feeling a bit of vaccine fatigue. But we're not too far off the first combination mRNA jab, which aims to offer seasonal protection against COVID-19 and influenza. Moderna hopes to be first out of the blocks as it moves to phase 3 trials after "strong" early results, and is aiming for regulatory approval for the vaccine in 2025.

Coral Restoration
An alliance of 45 countries pledged to raise $12 billion to conserve and restore coral reefs, says Reuters. The International Coral Reef Initiative said it would secure public and private investment to protect coral ecosystems, which sustain a quarter of the world's marine species and more than a billion people.
Raise a Glass to...
Giles, a charismatic black cat who survived getting stuck in a sofa bed with only minor injuries - and walked away with a shiny trophy. Giles is the recipient of the 15th Annual Hambone Award, given by Nationwide Insurance to the most ridiculous (yet still mild) pet medical claim of the year. The awards were inspired by a claim where a dog got mild hypothermia after getting stuck in a refrigerator and eating an entire ham. While that legendary first feat is hard to top, Giles had stiff competition - including a parrot who got in a fight with a door and a phone charger-chewing puppy.
New Female Dummy
In an effort to manufacture vehicles in a way that’s safer for more people, researchers just unveiled the first-ever prototype of a crash test dummy made in reference to a woman’s body.
Up until now, crash test dummies were created based entirely on the average man’s body, with a “slightly smaller” version used to represent a woman’s body, reports EuroNews. The research team believes this could contribute to women being 73 percent more likely than men to be injured in an accident, according to a 2019 study. While there are a number of factors that contribute to vehicle safety, the team of researchers believes that crash-testing cars with dummies that more accurately represent the nuances of a woman’s body could lead to safer seats and features for everyone who drives a car.
